Holy Boss made his first start of 2017 a winning one when he sailed to a five-length victory in the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes at Fair Grounds January 21.
The five-year-old son of Street Boss broke alertly and was sent immediately to the lead, where he set swift opening fractions of :21.68 and :44.52 through the first half-mile. Holy Boss continued to lead as the field swept through the far turn. As field hit the top of the stretch, Holy Boss hit another gear and began to pull away, and was never threatened as he cruised to the impressive victory.
Holy Boss was bred in Kentucky by Adena Springs. He is out of the Holy Bull mare, Holy Grace, a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner, Mark One, Stakes winner Daiwa Carson, and Rookie Sensation, winner of the G2 Twilight Derby.
Holy Boss is one of 26 Stakes winners his sire, Street Boss. The thirteen-year-old stallion is the sire of 2016 G1 winners Cathryn Sophia, who was impressive when winning the Kentucky Oaks by three lengths, and Decked Out, who took the G1 American Oaks on December 31. In addition, Street Boss has also sired G1 winners Capo Bastone, Danza, and The Quarterback.
