Heritage Stakes to Kuro
Keeping his current unbeaten campaign going, three-year-old Denman colt Kuro produced an impressive turn of foot to claim the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick on September 20.
Ridden by Blake Shinn, Kuro jumped away well from the middle of the line and after finding himself a little wide, the colt was urged forward to take the lead, settling off the rail.
As the impressive looking grandson of Lonhro rounded the home turn, Kuro went for home, and at the 200m it was evident that the colt was going to become the fourth Stakes-winner from the first crop of the G1 Golden Rose winner Denman.
Bred in New Zealand by Nearco Stud Limited, Kuro is the first winner for the Orientate mare Distinctive Lass, from a pedigree that includes multiple G1 winners Special and Bomber Bill.
Currently sitting second on the season-season sire table behind fellow Darley stallion Medaglia d'Oro, Denman is the sire of five stakes performers to date and is standing the current breeding season for a fee of $33,000 at Darley Kelvinside.
