Dawn Approach, whose first crop are juveniles this season, sired a new winner on Thursday, 7 September when his son Sunbreak made an impressive first victory at Chelmsford, UK. Making his first start in a handicap after three runs over sprint distances, he appreciated the step up to 1600m, making all the running to win well by nearly two lengths with a gaping five lengths back to the third.
Sunbreak is the third winner from G1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Carry On Katie (Fasliyev), after the Group-class juvenile filly Vocational (Exceed And Excel) and multiple winner Sandy’s Row (Street Cry).
Now the sire of six individual winners, Dawn Approach also has four Stakes-performing juveniles, a number not beaten by any other European first-crop stallion. Heading the list is G2 filly Mary Tudor, third in the G2 Debutante Stakes at the Curragh, Japanese G3 colt Fast Approach, G3 Silver Flash Stakes third Dawn Delivers and dual Listed-placed sprinter Haddaf.
He is standing this season at Kelvinside, NSW, at a fee of $22,000 Inc GST.
