A thoroughly professional performance by Haunted to win Wednesday’s Listed Village Stakes at Caulfield has given him an initial Stakes success and has made him Lonhro’s 88th black-type winner.
Haunted jumped cleanly to take up a perfect position behind the leaders before peeling out at the 200m to join the leaders and cruise clear at the 150m.
Under a quiet ride to the line by jockey Kerrin McEvoy, he registered a comfortable half-length win over Parsifal with Inn Keeper a further long neck away in third place.
Haunted is out of the prolific producing Canny Lad mare Seances whose 11 to race have included nine winners including the Stakes winners Renaissance and Sessions.
Seances is a daughter of another noted producer, Spirit, dam of the outstanding G1 winner Unworldly.
Lonhro is standing the current southern hemisphere season at Kelvinside, NSW, at a fee of A$77,000 including GST.
