Greenpointcrusader flies to victory in G1 Champagne Stakes in America
Greenpointcrusader made the leap into Graded Stakes company a successful one with an impressive come-from-behind victory in the G1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park in America, October 3.
The son of Bernardini raced at the back of the pack early, but made a sweeping move around the far turn to take command at the top of the stretch. Greenpointcrusader continued to draw off through the stretch for the victory.
Greenpointcrusader was bred in Kentucky by Oakbrook Farm. He is out of Ava Knowsthecode, a stakes-placed daughter of Cryptoclearance. Ava Knowsthecode is also the dam of Justin Phillip, winner of the G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt, Keyed Entry, winner of the G2 Hutcheson and Algorithms, winner of the G3 Holy Bull.
Greenpointcrusader is one of his sire Bernardini’s thirteen career G1 winners. In addition to Greenpointcrusader, in the past two months Bernardini has had Boban claim his fifth win at the elite level in the G1 Memsie Stakes, Rachel's Valentina win the G1 Spinaway Stakes and Cavorting claim the G1 Test Stakes.
Bernardini is standing at Kelvinside at a fee of $27,500 inc. GST.
