Gonski colt is Ready To Run
Prepared by Kenmore Lodge, a bay colt from the first-crop of Danehill stallion Gonski topped the opening session of the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale on October 27, realising $180,000 to the final bid of South African Bloodstock agent Andy Williams.
Purchased for clients in Singapore who currently race world class sprinter Rocket Man, Williams stated the colt was a, “Magnificent individual. Just an outstanding two-year-old who looks a great racetrack prospect.”
Bred by Riva Ridge Stud in South Australia, the colt was offered as a yearling at the Magic Millions Adelaide sale where he made $15,000 for his connections. Out of the Hurricane Sky mare Blazing Sky, the colt comes from the family of Stakes winners Si Senor and Bello Signor as well as the Stakes performers Allez Sauvage, Angora and Vilayet.
With the sale currently averaging $43,427, the $180,000 paid for the Gonski colt was in excess of four times that average sale price, and a significant return on investment for the $7,700 service fee paid.
This sale has a particular history of producing high-class winners, highlighted by the $64,000 paid for a Street Cry colt a few years back. Purchased by Eales Racing, the colt went on to become Shocking, the winner of the 2009 G1 Melbourne Cup and one of the current favourites for the running of the 2010 G1 Melbourne Cup.
Rated within four points of Champion two-year-old Stratum after a wide-margin Rosehill debut victory, Gonski competed with only the best of his age group, defeating no fewer than nine G1 winners, highlighted by his two-and-a-half length victory over Perfectly Ready in the Concept Sports Stakes.
Currently standing his fourth season at Darley's Northwood Park property, Gonski’s fee of $6,600 including GST sees him as one of the most in demand stallions standing in Victoria.
