Having an impressive run at present, Danehill’s Stakes-winning son Gonski recorded his fourth individual winner on March 29, when the Robbie Griffiths-trained Gogonski made a winning debut at Sale, recording a three-quarter length victory over the favourite Raffles Pegasus.
Jumping away well from barrier two, the Michael Walker-ridden gelding worked forward to sit outside the leader. As the field turned for home, the baldy-faced chestnut went on to record a solid win and in the process joins New Zealand filly Czechout Girl, Rare Find and last Saturday’s G3 The Jansz third-placegetter Gone Skiing as winners for their sire.
Out of the Cryptoclearance mare Balagio, Gogonski was bred by Mr Wregg and is from the family of Stakes winners Countess Delainea, Daddy Warbucks, Coral Bracelet and Sandy Isle.
The sire of two Stakes performers to date, 14 of 15 of Gonski’s runners have collected prize money for their connections. A winner of the Listed Concept Sport Stakes over G1 winner Perfectly Ready by two-and-a-quarter lengths, Gonski defeated no fewer than nine G1 winners throughout his career and was rated within four points of Champion Stratum after a wide-margin Rosehill victory debut.
