Generalife scores commanding win
Lonhro four-year-old Generalife posted his third win from his past four starts and recorded his first Stakes victory with a dominant win in the Listed Civic Stakes over 1350m at Rosehill, July 5.
In career-best form since returning from a spell, Generalife settled midfield in the early stages before finishing hard down the centre of the track and claiming a soft two-length victory.
A home bred for Darley, Generalife is out of Stakes-placed Redoute’s Choice mare Albaicin, a multiple metropolitan winner in Sydney. Albaicin is a half-sister to Listed winner Celebrity Girl and Lonhro’s recent G3-placed daughter Lady Lakshmi.
Generalife becomes the 44th Stakes winner for Champion sire Lonhro who, with 153 individual winners this season, is just three winners away from setting a new Australian record for individual winners in a season.
Lonhro will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside alongside two of his G1-winning sons in Denman and Benfica. Lonhro is standing at a fee of $88,000 inc. GST, Denman is $33,000 inc. GST and Benfica’s fee is $6,600 inc. GST.
