Epaulette’s juvenile daughter Stela Star gained a valuable Group victory on Saturday, 19 October when taking the G3 Killavullan Stakes. Sent to front from the stalls in the seven furlong contest, she never saw another rival under jockey Colin Keane, running out the one and a half length winner.
She has now won half of her four contests and came into today’s race on the back of a Dundalk maiden victory in September.
Bred by Vimal and Gillian Khosla, she was purchased for €23,000 at Goffs last season and is a daughter of the unraced Sea The Stars mare Compostela, who is herself a half-sister to 2019 G1 winner One Master.
Epaulette is the sire of 11 Stakes winners including three-time G1-winning filly Soqrat. His seven Group winners also include Military Zone, Meryl, Khulaasa and She Shao Fly. Epaulette is standing this season at a fee of $27,000 Inc GST.
