It was third time's a charm for Frosted's two-year-old son Frozen Funds as he relished a cutback in distance and a surface change to becomes his sire's 12th winner from his first crop in maiden company at Gulfstream Park West on November 25th.
Away last at the break in the five-furlong turf test, Frozen Funds began passing horses as the field approached the final turn and eventually passed them all, pulling away nearing the wire to win by one and one-quarter lengths.
Frozen Funds was bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Michael Banahan, R. Gray, Dr. D. Varner and Dr. T. Varner. Purchased for $180,000 at the OBS March Sale in 2020, Frozen Funds is out of a half to G1Ws Dads Caps (by Darley Japan stallion Discreet Cat) and Paulassilverlining as well as a half to Stakes-placed Liza Too, dam of Stakes winner Long Weekend.
Frosted's other winners include TDN Rising Star and G1-placed Travel Column, TDN Rising Star Inject, Stakes-placed Frost Me, eight-length Belmont winners Likeable, Belmont winner Ten for Ten, ten-length Churchill winner Frosted Prayer, Saratoga winner Restored Order, and recent Keeneland winner Inspector Frost. Frosted is the only freshman sire with multiple TDN Rising Stars.
