Silver Point, bred during Commands' period of shuttling to France, triumphed on the sand at Cagnes-sur-Mer on Sunday when taking out the Listed Grand Prix de la Riviera Cote d’Azur.
The six-year-old was bred by Alec and Ghislaine Head, proprietors of the beautiful Haras du Quesnay in Normandy, which was home to Commands during his stint in the northern hemisphere. Silver Point is out of Silver Fame, by Quest For Fame, and has now won eight races, including two already this year at the southern French track. In 22 starts, he has only finished out of the frame on three occasions.
Commands, whose Stakes winners this season include Commanding Hope, El Cambio and Keen Commander, has 11 yearlings being offered at the ongoing Classic Sale, which concludes tomorrow (10 February).
