Fourth G1 win for Bernardini's star son
Bernardini’s star son Boban recorded his fourth career G1 success with a thrilling win in the Doomben 10,000, May 23.
The only horse in history to win the G1 treble of the Epsom Handicap, Emirates Stakes and Chipping Norton Stakes, Boban took his career earnings beyond $2 million with his fourth elite level success and he did it with his trademark finishing burst, coming from well back in the field to defeat Charlie Boy and the gallant Generalife (Lonhro) who was trapped wide throughout.
Bred by Tony Thomas, Boban is the only Stakes winner out of G1 AJC Oaks heroine Kenbelle who has a yearling full-brother to the four-time G1 winner set to follow his brother to Chris Waller’s Rosehill stables.
Boban provided Bernardini with a Group race double following Peace Force’s win in the G3 Glenlogan Park Stakes earlier in the day. It has been a great month for Bernardini who sired his 10th G1 winner earlier in May when Dame Dorothy claimed the G1 Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs. He will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $27,500 inc. GST.
