Authorized is off the mark in fine style following the first-time-out win of Tamarrud over 1600m at Lingfield on Saturday. Given a good lead by his stable-mate Lionrock, Tamarrud was always to the fore in the 11-runner contest and cruised easily to the lead in the straight, to fend off the challenge of runner-up Gassin Golf.
Bred by Darley, Tamarrud is out of the Gone West mare Miss Hepburn and hails from the family of St Leger winner, and Darley japane-based stallion Rule of Law.
Peter Chapple-Hyam, the former trainer of Authorized, unleashed another promising newcomer, Everlong, by the first-season sire at Newmarket. He finished runner-up to Godolphin's Street Cry filly Minidress on the July Course.
Authorized, the brilliant winner of the 2007 Derby, did not make his juvenile debut until September of his two-year-old year and won the G1 Racing Post Trophy at only his second start. Standing the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST), Authroized looks exceptional value for a horse of his calibre.
