First-season sire Sepoy is now off the mark in the northern hemisphere, following an impressive first-time-out victory for his daughter Kilmah at Newmarket.
Despite being slightly slowly away, the Mark Johnston-trained filly was soon in touch and ridden along with a furlong to go, took the lead and moved clear readily to win the six-furlong contest by two lengths from the more experience Seafront.
Bred by Mildmay Bloodstock Limited, Kilmah is out of the Stakes-winning Act One mare Perfect Star, who has a yearling colt by fellow reverse shuttler and first-season sire Helmet.
Sepoy already has a Group performer to his name here in Australia in Chipanda, plus the Stakes-placed winner She’s Positive.
Sepoy stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $33,000 including GST.
