The Prix Roland de Chambure was the feature race of the day at Chantilly and the seven-furlong contest was won in convincing style by Sepoy’s daughter Baileys Showgirl, who became her sire’s first Stakes winner in the process.
Despite missing the break, Baileys Showgirl (who is trained by Mark Johnston) soon picked up once asked for her effort and swept past her rivals to win by two lengths from Red Onion (Fast Company).
Baileys Showgirl was bred in France by Ecurie Monceaux and is out of the Stakes-placed War Chant mare Tanguista, now dam of two Stakes winners – the other being Prix Ronde de Nuit victrix Tribune.
Sepoy is also sire of two Black type performers in his native Australia and has another promising European performer in Dabyah, who impressed when winning on her debut at Newmarket earlier this month. Another of his winners, Kilmah, was last seen finishing a very creditable fourth in the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes during Newmarket’s July meeting, beaten just three-quarters of a length.
