Finallygotabentley drives to victory in Auburn Handicap
Darley stallions were well represented June 2 in the Auburn Handicap, as Bernardini's Finallygotabentley finished first, with Disruption (Street Boss) completing the exacta.
Out of the gate Finallygotabentley set the pace in the 1300m race at Emerald Downs. When challenged down the lane the three-year-old held strong and kept his advantage for the win.
Multiple Stakes-placed as a two-year-old, Finallygotabentley becomes the 21st Stakes winner for his sire Bernardini. Bred by Northwest Farms LLC, the colt is out of three-time Stakes winner Smarty Deb, by Smart Strike. The mare is a half-sister to Stakes winners Stopshoppingdebbie and Shampoo.
A son of the great AP Indy, Bernardini has a tremendous record as a sire, with five G1 winners and nine G1 horses to date. These G1 performers include two G1 Travers Stakes victors in Alpha and Stay Thirsty, as well as two-time G1 winner To Honor And Serve and this season's star New Zealand two-year-old filly Ruud Awakening.
Bernardini will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $33,000 inc. GST.
