Freshman sire Street Sense notched his fourth two-year-old winner August 14 at Ellis Park as Motor City took command in a five and one-half furlong Maiden Special Weight. The bay gelding rolled to the front out of the gate to set the pace between rivals. Maintaining position, Motor City gamely dueled in the stretch before pulling away in the final furlong for a wire-to-wire score.
Bred in Kentucky by Lantern Hill Farm LLC, Motor City is out of Shawgatny, by Danzig Connection. He is a half-brother to Stakes winner and Graded-placed Satulagi. His dam is a half-sister to Graded Stakes winners W. D. Jacks and Star Of Gdansk. The mare also has a yearling by Darley's Any Given Saturday.
The fantastic Street Sense is the only horse to accomplish victories in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Kentucky Derby. A son of the talented Street Cry, he is now the sire of four juvenile winners. In addition to Motor City, his winners are I Sense Your Luck, Street Hunter, and Sweet And Lowdown.
Street Sense stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside for $38,500 (inc GST), along side Street Cry at $110,000 (inc GST).
