The world’s most prolific sire of winning juveniles, Exceed And Excel, again stamped his mark when speedy colt Zulfiqar debuted with an impressive win in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes over 1,000m on Saturday, 1 October at Flemington.
Zulfigar, out of the US mare Sayf Shamal, burst from the barriers with Ben Melham in the saddle and crossed to lead before holding off Exceed And Excel filly Aditi.
Zulfiqar, who has a yearling full brother, became Exceed And Excel’s fifth winner of the race with Exceedingly Good (2007), Noesis (2008), Kuroshio (2021) and Madeenaty (2016).
