Exceed And Excel filly Serenely Discreet proved too strong for her rivals in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes over 1600m at Flemington on Sunday 2 October, continuing what was an outstanding weekend of racing in Australia for the Champion sire.
Serenely Discreet settled at the rear of the field and enjoyed a comfortable run under jockey Luke Nolen. Upon turning for home the three-year-old filly swept around to the outside and showed spectacular acceleration to put her rivals away and claim her first Stakes win from just five starts.
Bred by David Peacock and Pamela Loxton, Serenely Discreet is out of the Elusive Quality and Listed winning mare I’m Discreet. The filly is a relation to Maybe Discreet (Shamardal), a winner of the G1 SAJC Oaks and also a winner of the 2012 edition of the G2 Edward Manifold Stakes.
Champion sire Exceed And Excel now has 125 individual Stakes winners to his name. Among his leading progeny are his fellow Darley sires Helmet, Sidestep and Kuroshio.
Exceed And Excel is standing this breeding season at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST) at Kelvinside with his son Sidestep who stands at $11,000 (inc. GST). Helmet ($16,500) and Kuroshio ($8,800) are standing at Northwood Park in Victoria.
