Exceed And Excel brings up 54th Stakes winner
Making her fifth career start, lightly raced Exceed And Excel filly La Arenosa, proved too good for her opposition, winning her second start and first at Stakes level, taking out the Listed Grand Prix du Lion d'Angers over 1800m in France on August 16.
Bred and owned by Sheikh Mohammed, La Arenosa is out of the Acatenango mare Baranquilla, a Stakes winner of the Prix Madame Jean Couturie, and from from the family of G1 winners Saumarez, Buzzword and Lush Lashes.
Becoming the 54th Stakes winner for her sire, Exceed And Excel has been represented of late by Stakes winners by Heavy Metal, Bungle Inthejungle, Morawji and the four-year-old Excelebration who recorded his second G1 victory recently, taking out the Prix Jacques le Marois.
Exceed And Excel will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc. GST), while his triple G1-winning son Helmet will stand his first season at stud this year, basing himself at Darley’s Victorian propertyNorthwood Park at a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST).
