It didn’t take long for jockey Ramon Dominguez to usher the three-year-old Medaglia d’Oro filly Elusive Pearl to the lead in the one-mile Pebbles Stakes on October 10. And it wasn’t much longer that the dark bay or brown filly scooted away from the field to win comfortably over Belmont’s turf course.
The filly has now won two consecutive Stakes races on the turf but her record also shows wins on dirt as well as synthetic tracks.
Bred by Woodlawn Breeding Inc., Elusive Peark is out of the Stakes-placed mare Brazen Bride, by Miswaki. The mare is a half-sister to Baston Challenge, who placed in the G3 Rebel Stakes, as well as Stakes winner Movant.
Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of seven G1 winners on all surfaces, including Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, 2011 G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and 2011 G1 Just a Game winner C. S. Silk. Standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST), Medaglia d'Oro's progeny have earned more than $23 million.
