After a last start third behind stablemates Kanzan (Commands) and Screen (Lonhro) in the Listed Darley Crown at Hawkesbury, four-year-old Lonhro mare Dysphonia produced a brilliant turn of foot to come from the tail of the field to take the Listed Scone Cup by half-a-length on May 13.
Racing in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed, the Peter Snowden-trained mare has now won on seven occasions including her first Stakes success back in December where she won the Listed Festival Stakes at Rosehill.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Dysphonia is out of the winning Night Shift mare Stutter, a half-sister to the dam of the dual Listed-winning Octagonal gelding Jeremiad, who also won the Scone Cup. Bred on the same Lonhro – Night Shift cross as Stakes winners Beaded, Parables and Trim, Dysphonia may head towards the lucrative Brisbane winter carnival to chase further Stakes success.
The sire of 23 individual Stakes winners including G1 performers Denman, Beaded, Pinwheel and Miss Octopussy, Lonhro will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc GST).
