Exceed And Excel is a perennial sire of top-class performers and on Wednesday, 13 April he added a new Group winner to his already impressive record when his European-bred daughter Double or Bubble landed the feature sprint at Newmarket, UK.
The five-year-old mare was settled in midfield early on in the 1,200m contest, before making headway with 600m left to run. Taking the lead at the 400m marker, Double or Bubble was hard pressed close to home but kept on well to win by a short head.
Double or Bubble now has five career victories to her name, including last year’s Listed Flying Fillies’ Stakes.
She was bred by Deerfield Farm and is out of the winning mare Mango Lady, who has already produced a Group winner by Exceed And Excel in Mix and Mingle. She is a half-sister to G2 Royal Ascot winner and multiple G1 placegetter High Accolade.
Exceed And Excel, sire of 16 G1 winners to date, now has 18 Black Type performers to his name in 2022.
