A last-stride lunge gave Deja Blue a well-deserved victory in a finish in which Darley stallions sired the first two home in the Listed Rosemont Stud Stakes at Geelong on 25 October.
Deja Blue, a daughter of Denman, became her sire’s eighth Stakes winner, scoring by a half-head from Godolphin’s classy Lonhro filly Ghisoni.
The filly is a granddaughter of the Night Shift mare Zelanda, a Listed winner in England who produced Time Prisoner, a Stakes winer in France for Godolphin and Zenna whose five US wins for the same stable included the Listed Lure Stakes at Saratoga.
Zelanda is also the dam of Pearl Grey, a Listed winner in England and runner-up in the G2 Cherry Hinton Stakes.
Deja Blue was bred in Australia by Mr P Rafter and her Geelong win was her seventh from 21 starts.
Denman stands at Kelvinside in New South Wales at a fee of A$11,000 including GST.
