A brilliant turn of foot helped the Exceed And Excel filly Excelleration to a dominant victory in the Listed Gore Guineas, at Gore, NZ on Saturday, 20 January.
After suffering interference with 500m to run in the 1,335m race, Excelleration was giving the leader a six-length start, but once she became balanced she unleashed an overpowering sprint to win with something in hand.
The success was the third in seven starts for the filly who was bred by Pee Gee and WJ Bloodstock and partners.
Excelleration is the first foal of her dam Abeautifulred, a winning daughter of Handsome Ransom, and a half-sister to the Australian G2 winner Bird Of Fire.
The filly becomes Exceed And Excel’s 142nd stakes winner.
