Chil Chil, a daughter of Exceed And Excel, added a first Group win when taking the G3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle on Saturday, 26 June.
Travelling strongly midfield, the five-year-old mare made headway two furlongs out, moving into second inside the final furlong. With 100yds to travel, Chil Chil came with a storming run up the centre of the track, clinching victory by three-quarters of a length from Shamardal’s son Good Effort.
Bred by Denniff Farms, Chil Chil is a half-sister to five-time G2-winning miler Beat The Bank. They are out of the Listed-placed Tiana (Diktat), a half-sister to G3 Molecomb Stakes second Mary Read, herself granddam of G1 performer Kachy.
Exceed And Excel is the sire of 186 Stakes winners worldwide including 16 at G1 level. Among these are G1 Sires’ Produce hero Microphone and three-time G1 winner Bivouac, who stands his first season at Kelvinside, NSW this year.
