Exceed And Excel filly Oz Empress showed speed and stamina to lead all the way for her first Stakes win on Saturday, 23 September in the Listed Jim Moloney Stakes at Caulfield.
Taken straight to the front by Winona Costin, Oz Empress dictated the pace and kicked strongly in the home straight to claim her second race win, with two placings, from just six starts.
De Sonic Boom was three-quarters of a length away in second place, with Poifect the same margin away as the winner clocked 1 minute 23.32 seconds for the 1,400m journey.
Co-trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, the three-year-old is owned by the Evergreen Rich Syndicate managed by Bott.
Oz Empress, out of the Lonhro mare Vanilla Princess, was Exceed And Excel’s 211th Stakes winner and lifted the worldwide prize money won by his stock to A$262 million.
A six-time Stakes winner on the racetrack, including two G1s, Exceed And Excel heads the stallion roster at Darley’s Kelvinside property in the NSW Hunter Valley.
The G1 winners on the Darley roster are World Champion Sprinter Bivouac and Champion Two-Year-Old Microphone, both sired by Exceed And Excel.
The stallion stands for a service fee of $132,000 inc GST.
