Darley stallions dominated in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes with Kuro, son of Denman leading home a Darley-sired trifecta on 13 January. His Majesty, a son of leading stallion Shamardal, finished second with Ball Of Muscle (Dubawi) finishing third in the 1200m sprint.
Kuro, who is out of Stakes-placed mare Distinctive Lass, jumped well and settled midfield, travelling wide for most of the race. He finished powerfully in the straight with His Majesty finishing strongly to secure second place. Ball Of Muscle, a son of Parfore prevailed in a photo finish for third.
Kuro’s victory followed his recent triumph in the Starlight Stakes, taking his total number of Black type wins to five.
G1 Golden Rose winner Denman, sire of 16 Black type performers to date, stands at Kelvinside in New South Wales.
