The Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale concluded on Saturday 14 January delivering some outstanding results for Darley Stallions. Exceed And Excel (pictured) proved popular throughout the sale, finishing second in the sire averages with three or more lots sold. Highlighted by a $550,000 colt out of G1-winning Scenic mare Episode purchased by Aquis/Blue Sky Bloodstock, he averaged $335,000 for his 12 lots sold. The demand for his offspring was evident, with seven lots exceeding $300,000.
Medaglia d’Oro enjoyed a successful sale with his 14 lots averaging $253,000. Little Kwok Hing Hung and Bahen Bloodstock went to $1 million to secure a colt out of a three-quarter sister to Denman, consigned by Aquis Farm, becoming the stallion’s highest-priced Australian-bred yearling.
Lonhro enjoyed a high price of $300,000 with an Attunga Stud filly out of G2 winner Adaline, selling to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Blue Sky Bloodstock. Following closely was a filly out of Stakes-winning mare Emmalene, purchased by Blue Sky Bloodstock.
The sole entry for Poet’s Voice, a sister to his Stakes-winning daughter My Country, sold to James Bester Bloodstock and Stuart Webb for $210,000.
The progeny of the first crop of Dawn Approach were well received, with a $240,000 purchase made by Astute Bloodstock for lot 483, a colt out of St Trinians. His success continued during Book 2 of the sale, with TCH Bloodstock purchasing lot 955 from Oaklands Stud for $170,000. Albrecht’s only offering, lot 975 from Newhaven Park, sold to Aquis farm/Blue Sky Bloodstock for $130,000
