The sire of 53 international Stakes winners, which includes 12 at G1 level, G1-winning mares scanned in foal to the Dubai World Cup hero Street Cry include Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy, G1-winning juveniles Miss Finland (Golden Slipper), Sleek Chassis (Blue Diamond) and Fashions Afield (Sires’ Produce), as well as G1-winning three-year-olds Faint Perfume, Gold Edition, Tuesday Joy and Rewaaya.
Last season’s champion sire Lonhro covered one of his best quality books of mares, with the recently scanned in foal mares Magical Miss – winner of the VRC Oaks, Polar Success – Golden Slipper and Watchful, the dam of Champion two and three-year-old Elusive Quality colt Sepoy all carrying a positive.
Covering his second southern hemisphere book of quality mares is sire-sensation Medaglia d’Oro (pictured). The sire of 13 G1-performers including Horse of The Year Rachel Alexandra, the multiple G1-winning son of El Prado covered G1 Golden Slipper winner Merlene, G1 Sydney Cup winner Jessicabeel, as well as Singapore G1 Derby winner Jolie’s Shinju.
Another exciting prospect for Medaglia d’Oro is the recent news that Triassic, the dam of international G1 winner So You Think, is carrying a positive test, the resultant foal being a colt.
With Street Cry, Lonhro and Medaglia d’Oro all having yearling representation at the upcoming 2012 yearling sales, expectations are high for the possible outcomes. Street Cry half-relations that could be catalogued include a half-brother to Makybe Diva, a half-brother to Wanted, and a filly out of G1 Hong Kong Derby-winning mare Elegant Fashion, while Lonhro could be represented by a filly out of G1 Queensland Oaks winner Vitesse Dane, a filly out of G1 winner Camino Rose and the first foal of juvenile Stakes-winning Exceed And Excel mare Believe’n’succeed.
With the current crop of Medaglia d’Oro yearlings conceived in the northern hemisphere, representation will be minimal, but a colt out of the Stakes winner Celestial Flight will be on offer at the Magic Millions, while Easter could see a colt out of the Stakes winner Amazing Tale and a filly out of the five-time Stakes winner Polynesian Kitty catalogued.
