Australian championship honors were announced over the weekend and it was Elusive Quality's Sepoy at the top of the list of the nation’s best two-year-old colts with fellow Darley-sired runners Helmet (by Exceed and Excel) and Benfica (Lonhro) rounding out the trifecta.
Sepoy was brilliant as a juvenile and and just shy of perfect with a record of five wins in six starts, including the coveted Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond Stakes, both G1 events. He has now improved that to seven wins in eight starts. The highest rated two-year-old in Australia over the past decade, Sepoy has now amassed more than AUS$2.9 million in earnings.
Elusive Quality is the sire of 136 career stakes performers (24 in 2011), including other champions Smarty Jones, winner of the Kentucky Derby, Raven’s Pass, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Maryfield, winner of the Breeder’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, and Elusive City, winner of the Prix Morny Casinos Barriere.
