It was a third consecutive victory in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes for Godolphin and the second in a row for Darley’s Exceed And Excel, as Jorda broke her maiden over 1000m at Royal Randwick on Saturday October 1.
Following in the footsteps of Calliope (Exceed And Excel) in 2015 and Calaverite (Lonhro) in 2014, the two-year-old filly found cover in the running and raced away to claim victory from Kanga’s Eye who is a daughter of Denman.
Jorda is out of the Viscount mare Montmelo, who placed in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes, and the filly is also a half-sister to the Group 3 placed mare Pursuits (Lonhro). Both Jorda and Pursuits were bred by Darley.
The promising filly has now become one of Exceed And Excel’s 21 Stakes winners in 2016 alone. She joins the likes of Flamberge, Yalta and Hit The Bid.
Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST), alongside Denman who is standing at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
