Crop Report shines in Rushaway Stakes
Medaglia d'Oro colt Crop Report took to the challenge March 23 in his Stakes debut as 3-5 favorite in Turfway's Rushaway Stakes. The three-year-old colt broke his maiden at Newmarket in October of last year, before heading stateside to campaign for owner Team Valor International in 2013.
In the one and one-sixteenth mile race on the all-weather track, Crop Report trailed the field at the rear. He made his move on the final turn and traveled to the outside, before taking over the lead with a furlong to go and pulling away for his first Stakes score.
Bred by Liberation Farm in Kentucky, Crop Report is out of the G3-winning Crafty Prospector mare Amarillo, who is also the dam of Stakes-placed Comarillo. Amarillo is a half-sister to G3 winner Government Corner and G3-placed Maverick Miner.
Medaglia d'Oro continues to prove himself as a sire on all surfaces, with progeny the likes of Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and Marketing Mix, who won the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes on the turf in 2012. In 2012 he was also represented by impressive G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence. Crop Report is now the 39th lifetime Stakes winner around the world for Medaglia d'Oro.
With his first southern hemisphere crop of yearlings selling now, Medaglia d'Oro will be represented by 14 yearlings at the forthcoming Inglis Easter yearling sale.
