Commands filly 61st Stakes winner for her sire
Commands filly Moderate was anything but what her name suggests November 5, winning the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate over 1400m at Flemington to become her sire’s 61st Stakes winner.
A winner of three of her first four starts, Moderate was sent out a short-priced favourite in her Stakes race debut and did not let her supporters down. After jumping well from the barriers, the three-year-old filly took up the lead and never relinquished it.
A homebred for Darley, Moderate is the fourth winner and first Stakes winner out of the G3-placed Strategic mare Gradual, who has a two-year-old son by Teofilo. Sadly Gradual died earlier this year when in foal to Helmet.
Moderate is the seventh Stakes winner for Commands this season, a figure not bettered by any stallion in the country.
The sire of nine G1 winners including Darley stallion Skilled, Appearance, Epaulette and Commanding Jewel, Commands is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 inc. GST.
