Colt by Exceed And Excel sets new record price at Doncaster Breeze-Up
Tally-Ho Stud, who only last week were responsible for the sales topper at Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up with their 500,000 guineas colt by Shamardal, enjoyed another outstanding day at the sales on 23 April when their colt by Exceed And Excel was bought by David Redvers for £300,000 – setting a new record price for the sale.
The colt (bred by the Ellis family) who caught the eye when breezing extremely well on the Town Moor, is out of G2 Flying Childers and G3 Molecomb Stakes winner Wunders Dream, who has produced two winners to date. The mare also has a yearling filly by Teofilo.
There was also success for fellow Darley stallion Street Boss, whose first two-year-olds have proved popular at the sales recently. He was responsible for the second-highest price of the sale when his colt out of Black type producer Merit was bought by Stephen Hillen for £120,000.
The sale rounds off a successful few days for Exceed And Excel, who recorded a Stakes-winning double at the weekend when G1 winner Excelebration made a winning seasonal debut in the G3 Gladness Stakes, and Alkhafif won the Listed Chairman’s Trophy in Macau.
