In-form four-year-old Chetwood, a son of Exceed And Excel, has strung four straight wins together, the latest with a victory in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 8.
Chetwood, who was ridden by James McDonald, trailed a strong tempo set by Sistine Demon in the Listed race, before cruising to the lead and the victory never looked in doubt.
Lightly raced as a young horse, Chetwood has now won five races from seven starts, including the G3 Cameron Handicap (1350m) on September 16, and made it four straight wins this campaign.
A Darley homebred, Chetwood is out of Marauding mare Eldarin, a sister to G1 winner Drum, and Tambour, the dam of multiple G1 winner Grand Armee. Eldarin has had six foals to race for five winners including G3 winner Mearas and Listed-placed Sindarin. She has a yearling filly by Sepoy, her final foal, before being retired from stud duties this year.
Exceed And Excel has now sired 23 individual Stakes winners in 2016, headed by multiple G1 winner Flamberge and sired three two-year-old Stakes winners to start the new Australian racing season.
Exceed And Excel stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc GST.
