Championship, a son of Exceed And Excel, landed his first Stakes contest on Sunday 4 December when running out the easy one-and-a-half length winner of the Listed National Day Cup. Run over a mile at Abu Dhabi, the Ahmad bin Harmash-trained gelding was winning his fourth career start.
Bred by Natalie Cleary, he is out of the Halling mare Aljafliyah, who has produced four winners including Waltz Darling (Iffraaj), The Only Boss (Exceed And Excel) and Pensex Lady (Fast Company).
Exceed And Excel has now sired 26 Stakes winners in 2016 including dual G1 victor Flamberge and Group winning juveniles Yalta and Hit The Bid.
