Champagne for Outstrip
Outstrip, a juvenile colt by Exceed And Excel, ran out the impressive winner of the G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday September 14. A race won five year's previously by Poet's Voice (Dubawi), Outstrip was rear early on the rain softened ground before making his move two furlongs from home, powering clear to record a three length triumph.
A Darley homebred, Outstrip is the second foal of Siempre Asi, an El Prado mare who won the G1 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland in 2006. Siempre Asi also has a yearling filly and a filly foal both by Dubawi.
Exceed And Excel is having a banner year with Outstrip becoming his 20th Stakes winner of 2013. He has a pair of G1-winning juveniles in Guelph and Overreach, and eight further Group winners including Kuroshio, who took the G2 McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley earlier in the day.
Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 inc. GST. His son Helmet stands at Northwood Park at a fee of $33,000 inc. GST.
