Champagne d'Oro proved that her win in the G1 Acorn was no fluke as she posted an impressive four and three-quarter length win in the G1 Test at Saratoga on August 7.
Quick out of the gate, Champange d'Oro quickly joined pacesetter Pica Slew and raced head-to-head with her until the stretch then put that one away for a four and one-half length victory.
A US$210,000 Keeneland September sale yearling, the three-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro shows a growing resume which also includes a second in the G1 Prioress two starts back which well could have been grade 1 win number three if not for a troubled start. Her 2010 record now reflects three wins and two seconds in five starts.
Bred by Liberation Farm, Champagne d’Oro is out of the Stakes-winning G1-placed mare Champagne Glow (Saratoga Six), herself a half-sister to G1 winners Jurado and Grand Canyon.
Champagne d'Oro is one of five career G1 winners for her sire and one of three in 2010. Medaglia d'Oro is enoying another banner year in 2010 and the sire of 10 total Stakes winners this year.
Medaglia d'Oro will cover his debut southern hemisphere season at Darley's Kelvinside, where he will stand at a fee of $88,000 including GST.
