Camporella too tough
Following the success of Overreach earlier in the day, Exceed And Excel claimed another feature juvenile race when his daughter Camporella rounded off another successful Saturday for her sire with a gutsy win in the $232,000 Magic Millions Perth 2yo Classic over 1100m at Ascot on 16 February.
Jumping from the outside barrier in the capacity field of 14, Camporella began well but found herself trapped three-deep outside the lead.
Despite enduring a tough run, Camporella moved to the lead soon after straightening and fought off all challengers to record a tenacious head victory. Street Boss filly Flying Zoe finished hard from midfield for fourth.
Bred by the Kelly family’s Newhaven Park Stud, Camporella is out of the Stakes winning Real Quiet mare Really Flying and was a $140,000 yearling purchase for her trainer Dan Morton at the 2012 Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast.
Exceed And Excel is enjoying a stellar run at the moment and the win of Camporella is sure to make his six yearlings at the Magic Millions Perth yearling sale which begins on Tuesday even more highly sought after. Exceed And Excel will also be represented by 17 yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale which commences on 3 March, while he has another nine yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Easter yearling sale in April.
