Palentino added a second G1 win to his record in a gutsy run over 1600m in the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on Saturday 10 September.
Under the master craftsmanship of jockey Mark Zahra, the four-year-old entire settled in the middle of the field before pursuing a narrow opening in the famous Flemington straight. The son of Teofilo chased down dual G1 winner Black Heart Bart in what was a courageous victory.
Bred by Jenny Watson of the Macleay Thoroughbred Stud, Palentino is out of the Palace Music mare Palatine Hill and was purchased for $85,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale.
Palentino is one of ten individual G1 winners for his sire Teofilo, alongside three-time Group winner Kermadec, Queensland Derby winner Sonntag and Irish Derby winner Trading Leather.
Teofilo is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $44,000 inc. GST alongside Kermadec who is standing his first season at a fee of $22,000 inc. GST.
