The Neil Godbolt-trained Bengal Angel, by first-season sire Nadeem, made an impressive debut on October 9, taking the two-year-old event over 1000m at Port Macquarie by a quarter of a length.
The first runner to the track for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Nadeem (pictured), the Port Macquarie-based filly was bred by Holbrook Thoroughbreds. Out of the Catrail mare Foscat, the filly comes from the family of Stakes winners Blackfriars, Lions Gate, Larrocha, Manton and Wateford Road. Foscat's current yearling is also by Nadeem, this time being a colt.
By the Champion sire Redoute’s Choice, Nadeem was a $700,000 Easter yearling sale graduate and is out of the Champion race mare Candide.
Standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $22,000 including GST, Nadeem was crowned the Champion two-year-old colt of his year after two spectacular Stakes wins, which included his two-and-a-quarter length victory over Champion filly Miss Finland and the G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Wonderful World, in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
