Beautiful victory for Bella Medaglia
Medaglia d'Oro mare Bella Medaglia shined for the second year in a row in the one mile Treasure Chest Stakes at Delta Downs.
The five-year-old mare showed speed early and took a stalking position in second. Bella Medaglia began to challenge at the top of the lane and easily drew away to secure the win. She is now a multiple Stakes winner and is also Graded-placed.
Bred by Chain Bridge Stables in Kentucky, Bella Medaglia is out of the Deputed Testamony mare Ten’s Testamony, and is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner Duckhorn.
A sire of eight G1 winners thus far in his career, Medaglia d'Oro is already a tremendous sire. Among his best in 2012 is G1 winner and turf star Marketing Mix. His first crop was represented by tremendous Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, and was followed just two years later by another G1 Kentucky Oaks winner in Plum Pretty.
Standing the current southern hemisphere season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST), Medaglia d'Oro's first southern hemisphere-bred yearling swill head through the sales ring at the beginning of 2013.
