Arctic Arrogance improved his record to two wins in three career starts with an impressive four-and-a-half-length victory over Quick to Accuse in the Sleepy Hollow Stakes at Belmont at the Big A on Sunday, 30 October.
The two-year-old Frosted colt, who entered the race off a runner-up finish in the Bertram F. Bongard Stakes in September, has never finished worse than second in his career thus far.
Arctic Arrogance broke alertly under jockey Jose Lezcano and went straight the lead to set the pace. He was tracked closely by Starquist (by Nyquist), who pressured him throughout the opening half-mile. Hot on their heels was Quick to Accuse, who sat right off them in third. Arctic Arrogance, who saved ground along the inside rail throughout, briefly lost the lead to Starquist on the far turn but dug in once again as the field entered the homestretch.
Arctic Arrogance battled with Starquist and Quick to Accuse in the stretch before finally shaking off his rivals and drawing off late to win quite easily. Quick to Accuse was second, with Starquist taking third.
Arctic Arrogance was bred in New York by his owners, Chester and Mary Broman, who were the breeders of the first four finishers of the race. He is out of Modest Maven, an unraced daughter of Uncle Mo. Arctic Arrogance is a half-brother Overstep (Into Mischief), who was second in this race last year. He hails from the immediate family of Graded Stakes-placed Lassofthemohicans and Eclipse Award winning Champion sprinter, Housebuster.
In addition to Arctic Arrogance, Frosted has sired Frosted Over, Canadian Sovereign Award Champion three-year-old colt of 2021, and winner of the G3 Dominion Day Stakes at Woodbine this year. Frosted is also the sire of Half is Enough, winner of the 2022 Glen Cove Stakes and Macron, winner of the Iowa Sprint. The stallion is also represented by Travel Column, winner of the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks in 2021.
