Exceed And Excel added a new Black-type winner to his name when his five-year-old son Stocks proved too strong for his rivals in the Listed Farnley Stakes over 1400m at Belmont on Saturday 10 September.
The gelding handled the step up in distance and grade well, running comfortably throughout the race. Stocks showed his class when pushing through to the outside to challenge his competitors and hit the line strongly, in what was his maiden Stakes win.
Stocks was bred by Bowness Stud and is out of the Canny Lad mare Mesh. A $130,000 purchase at the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the gelding hails from the family of G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Long John, a son of Street Cry.
Exceed And Excel continues his dominance in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, with two new Stakes winners to his record in this week alone. On Wednesday 7 September his daughter Priceless took out the Listed Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster to become his sixth Black-type winner in less than four weeks.
Champion sire Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season in the Southern Hemisphere at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST at Kelvinside Stud.
