Helmet’s three-year-old son Anda Muchacho took the step up into Stakes company in his stride on Sunday 16 April when landing the Premio Gardone over a mile in Milan. Making his second career start after a debut victory over the same course and distance last month, he easily beat his three rivals by upwards of three-and-a-half lengths.
Bred by Thomas Hassett, he is a son of the unraced Shamardal mare Montefino, whose first foal was the G3 juvenile Parsley. Montefino is a daughter of G2 winner Monturani and granddaughter of Mezzogiorno, who was placed in both the G1 Epsom and Yorkshire Oaks.
Anda Muchacho is from the first crop of Helmet which also includes the G1 winning juvenile Thunder Snow, unbeaten in two Group races in Meydan already this season, and Group juveniles Eqtiraan and Mur Hiba. His second crop have also made a perfect start with his first two runners, Cheeseandpickle and Plunger, winning well in the space of 24 hours over the Easter weekend.
Helmet is standing this coming season at a fee of $16,500 Inc GST.
