3YO Domesday colt Pressday returns to the winners list
Domesday colt Pressday returned to winning form today finishing over the top of the field to secure a half-length victory in the G2 Sandown Guineas. Jockey Nash Rawiller was made to work hard over the final stages to overcome Lonhro colt Territory and the fast finishing Octagonal gelding Chasse to win on a track that was rated a heavy 8.
Pressday was a bargain purchase for his trainer Chris Waller, who secured the colt for just $38,000 from the Glenarvon Park draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling sale.
Pressday has now won five races from eight starts and was the real surprise packet of the 2010 Brisbane Winter Carnival. Pressday is the fourth foal and first stakes-winner for the good metropolitan winner Kaaptive Empress, a half-sister to the dam of New Zealand Group One winner The Mighty Lions.
Domesday, a G2 winner of the Silver Slipper by accomplished shuttle sire Red Ransom, is also the sire of stakes-winning horses Backgammon and Divorces.
Standing his first season at Darley’s Northwood Park after moving from Twin Hills, Domesday stands at a fee of $11,000 including GST.
