Former champion French juvenile Earthlight sired his first Black-Type winner in Australia on Saturday, 12 April when Petit Artiste easily won the Listed Without Fear Stakes for two-year-olds over 1,050m at Morphettville.
Having her third race start for Mornington co-trainers Amy and Ash Yargi, the filly out of Little Artist came from fifth on the home turn to swamp Meisho and Oakley Miss by a widening 3.5 lengths under the guidance of jockey Dan Stackhouse.
Bred by D.J. Love and offered by Collingrove Stud, Murchison at the 2024 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the filly was a bargain buy for Yargi Racing at $15,000.
Earthlight was the champion two-year-old colt in France and a dual G1 winner of seven races from just nine starts.
The son of Shamardal commenced stud duties in 2021and has now sired 30 winners of 37 races worldwide, including G3 Deauville winner Daylight (Latita).
At the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne last month, an Earthlight colt out of Sanadaat sold to Yulong Investments/Ciaron Maher Bloodstock for $475,000.
Earthlight shuttled back to Ireland to stand at Darley’s Kildangan Stud this year for a service fee of 12,500 euros.
