First-crop sire Pinatubo is enjoying an excellent autumn and he sired a colt with immense promise on Saturday, 21 September through debutant winner Kirchner. Running over a mile at Chantilly, he was very slowly away and noticeably green, and despite turning for home near the rear, he ran on very well to lead near the finish.
Bred by James Hanly, Trevor Stewart and Anthony Stroud, Kirchner is a son of the Stakes-winning juvenile Kimbura, a half-sister Listed winner Verba.
Now with 14 individual winners, Pinatubo has sired three impressive scorers in France this week after Al Jafara and Tipinso. He is also the sire of three Stakes performers through Wolf Of Badenoch, Cavallo Bay and Qilin Queen.
Pinatubo is standing this season at a fee of $55,000 Inc. GST.
