Speedy Brazen Beau youngster Bold Bastille showed her class and collected her second Black-Type victory when an all-the-way winner of the Listed Furphy Trophy for two-year-old fillies over 1,000m at Flemington on Saturday, 2 March.
A Moonee Valley winner of the Restricted Listed Inglis Banner over the same distance last October beating subsequent G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Hayasugi, Bold Bastille returned from a spell to finish sixth to that filly at Caulfield three weeks ago.
But with Mark Zahra sitting quietly on Saturday, Bold Bastille travelled much better in the lead and kicked strongly at the 300m mark to beat Drifting by three-quarters of a length, with Grinzinger Love another 2.25 lengths away in third spot.
Out of the Stakes-winning Exceed And Excel mare Chloe In Paris, Bold Bastille is trained by Ben, Will and JD Hayes at Flemington.
Bred by Des Pope in Victoria and offered by Blue Gum Farm at Euroa at the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, the filly was bought by Lindsay Park Racing and Group 1 Bloodstock for $270,000.
Bold Bastille has now banked $442,000 in prize money and bonuses, and she has a yearling full-brother.
Brazen Beau was a dual G1 winner on the track and has now sired 290 winners of 803 races, including 26 Stakes winners of 42 Stakes races.
Progeny of the stallion fetched up to $280,000 and NZ$250,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the Karaka Yearling Sale in New Zealand this year.
Brazen Beau has 13 lots in the catalogue for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale starting in Melbourne on Sunday and one filly entered for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney on 7-8 April.
